If i had to choose one and only one problema, i`d choose the way Nintendo presented the console to gamers and non gamers.
Adding the U to the Wii brand was not the problem, the problem was how Nintendo revealed the console (not just the actual console, but the gamepad and the games).
From just focusing on the gamepad to making a box to the system where it almost seems that Nintendo is hiding the HW behind the gamepad. Not to forget how it decided to make it basically look like a rounded Wii and the commercials that made no actual separation between Wii and Wii U.
For people unaware, the gamepad might have looked like the U to their Wii: Wii + U and not Wii U.
