That actually may be a better idea in order to prevent people from editing their posts.

Exactly. I thought as you did, but editing posts adds a layer of difficulty. 

Also, doing my method allows for things like visual clues,i.e a chain for Link or something. It's not just general knowledge and could prolong the life of the concept.
