It's not a bad idea to bring E3 demos to more people, but from everything I heard it was pretty much a gong show at Best Buys trying to get a chance to play, it was often one demo unit for all the games combined and way too many people around. I heard a lot of stories of people just leaving because it would take too long to play.
They should just have let there be playable demos for people at home for a 2-3 day period via digital download.

I agree. It should have been all business hours for all of the participating Best Buys through the Sunday after E3. Don't see why it had to be so exclusionary, as it rather defeated the point.
