Including Kinect is like Nintendo including the gamepad. If the manufacturers were simply going to bolster the processing power of the machine, it really is pointless to have alternatives.
Though I understand wfz's gripe, I still think it is the manufacturer's prerogative to include whatever value-add they believe will increase the appeal of their console.
I can see truth in both sides, but in the end the sales will dictate what was the best decision.
