It's like you didn't even read the article. PS4 will come down in price, MUCH faster than the PS3 did. Why? It's not using alien technology. PS3 costs are hard to bring down because of that Cell processor.

Bringing down the PS4 cost is mostly about die shrinking the new chip. It doesn't matter whether it's "alien" tech or not, it's about whether the 22nm, 14nm and so on nodes are available, and affordable to port to.

Sony's lack of 32nm die shrink for the Cell indicates that new node prices are expensive still. Combined with my knowledge of future die shrinks, I'm confident the PS4 will drop in price much slower than the PS3.

Die shrinks are really only usefull for a redesign of the entire console so think  about 3 years from launch. PS4 will get at least 2 price cuts by then as the prices of the components naturally go down in price.
