They simply need to greenlight more games.

You see Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and X? They need to have twice as many of those types of projects from outside developers going. Platinum Games should be only one of their partners, there should be 2 or 3 other companies like Platinum Games working on Wii U and 3DS projects.

Retro Studios and NST both should've been expanded to accommodate simultaneous development of multiple console projects years ago as well.

Rare would often deliver Nintendo two, sometimes even three games *in a year*, Retro gives Nintendo 1 game every 3 years. It's ridiculous.

Also the moment they start developing new hardware, Nintendo needs to stop screwing around and make sure they have killer apps in development right away. For example with Wii U, dev kits were sent out two+ years ago now. Why didn't Nintendo sit down and say "we need to have a game of the same scope of a Metroid Prime/Zelda/Mario Galaxy?". Such a game if it started development 2+ years ago would probably be on the verge of release now.

If Nintendo had 5-6 more Wii U projects in development from 2010 onwards, some of them would be bound to be finishing up right now by the law of averages, even if things like Pikmin 3 got delayed.

I still can't believe Retro is only working on DK. They hired people from other studios to make a sequel to a 2D DK platformer that was developed really fast on Wii.
