You make a very good point. Any pioneer looking to follow this uncharted market approach would need to look for long-term gain, and see some lesser sales on the short term. Take for example Xenoblade. I can bet that X will garner more and more sales as the series improves and progresses on Nintendo consoles, to establish itself as a robust Nintendo IP when it comes to sales. This strategy would require constant exclusivity and commitment to quality. |
Unfortunately, most publishers need money now, nintendo included. If Ninty themselves moneyhat some of these projects with the Wii/DS money, it would be a worthwile endeavor for developers like bayo 2. Will ninty themselves continue to do this? If they do, it would prove to other publishers that it is worthwile to try and if they don't, they'd essentially confirm to everyone, that nintendo systems are for traditional ninty games period.
