Gears of War. Resi 4 started the over the shoulder TPS, Gears of War brought it to the mainstream.
Smash Bros-Nintendo Crossover fighter. How does this work? It's just so crazy enough that it does.(A lot of Gamecubes were sold thanks to this)
Halo-Pretty much the game that sold the Xbox, and popularized shooters on consoles. (Others might say it was Goldeneye, but Halo brought with it online multiplayer which was the real kicker)
Final Fantasy 7-Known as the game that sold the Playstation. It was a great JRPG for its time, and helped some of the SNES audience to leave.
Pokemon- An example of a concept executed brilliantly. The collection, the motto of training, forging bonds through trading, it's the perfect game for kids. (And then there's the metagame, Pokemon metagame is like Magic the gathering metagame which makes people continue playing) Buy for the concept, stay for the charm and depth. Your system IS your Pokedex.
