The ending was brilliant I thought. I had mixed feelings when watching it and it felt unsatisfying, but when you think of Joel's motives, it's a very realistic outcome and it really hits home and links back to the start of the game. Joel's a broken man, and Ellie is all he has left. It hurt to watch him lie to her face like that, it's a great scene to end the game on.
