I agree with this. The PS3 didn't sell decent at launch because it had great games, people paid $600 because it was the follow up to the 2 biggest consoles ever released. Obviously, that didn't last and it got a price cut. As for Wii U staying in trouble? It won't be as bad as now but I agree that it won't be increasing to awesome levels anytime soon. I don't think it will be a GC but N64.
MDMA is right though, saying that "it's the only thing they needed to do" is just wrong. Nintendo may have always won each HH generation easily but that doesn't mean anything. DS selling 150 Million means absolutely nothing to the 3DS. Does this mean you expect Wii U to sell 100 Million and be the biggest system of the gen? Based off your logic, it will because Wii sold so well. PS3 should've won no problem if this was the case because PS1 & PS2 completely dominated. Sony normally trashes everyone console-wise and it didn't help PS3 do it.
3DS also started slow after the initial launch. Why? It should've dominated regardless because its a Nintendo HH. Not trying to rip on you, just saying a lot goes into a system business and it's not that simple. Anyway, I expect a Wii U price cut this Holiday. |
At no point did I say a successor is destined to repeat the success of its predecessor. You're confused.
