Time will heal these wounds. Consumers won't stay mad about something that ultimately never made it into the final version of the console. Microsoft has a good lineup of games for their console, too, so that will help win people back as well.
I still expect Sony will take an early lead this holiday, if for no other reason than price, but Microsoft should be able to keep up with Sony in the long run, and it will continue to get good support from developers and publishers.
