Judging from Mr. Aonuma recent comments, its pretty clear that he does not want to be part of Nintendo anymore. His stance on many things, from his desire to work on other projects besides zelda with his "10 years left", him wanting to make zelda more like Elder Scrolls, and now this, everything is opposite from what Nintendo proper is saying.


Miyamoto is set to retire at some point (by his own admission) and maybe Aonuma is purposely positioning himself as a replacer with some new ideas.

Just a thought.
