Physical games would exist, but nowhere even close to what they are today. Yeah they had a system in place to allow you to "possibly" resell them. Here was the issue with it though and so many continue to choose to ignore this.

 

Those games can only be traded in to "approved retailers". Who these retailers are we have no clue, but it could have been Gamestop, Bestbuy, Amazon, etc... Now, people already bitch about Gamestop being cheap on prices for trade ins. With them being one of your only avenues for trading in a title, expect those prices to drop since it isn't like you could just go on eBay or Craigslist and get $40 for your used title as opposed to Gamestop giving you $15-$22.

Publishers would need to "allow" these trade ins to happen to begin with, so if they choose not to, then your disc is nothing more than a digital copy and is 100% useless after you install your title.

The current setup allows the seller to get the best return and the buyer to get the cheapest price. $40 as opposed to $20 when selling and $40 as opposed to $50-$55 when buying.

 

Yes, they had a system to sell your digitial games. Here was the catch.

If you buy a game new, you could sell it digitally (If publisher allows it). Not sure if this system was even 100% up though, can't find a link to it. I can only find references about being able to "gift" the game to a friend, after they have been on your friends list for 30-days.

If you recieve the game digital from a friend or random stranger online then that game is 100% tited to your account forever and you cannot resell if god forbid you do not like the title. Also, the one who sells the game gets a chunk of the sale taken from them to pay publishers and microsoft.

 

 

I don't see what you were really going to be gaining other than being able to share games with up to (9) other people after a 30-day grace period and having those games checked out (similar to a library.

You would also be giving up the option of renting titles and trading physical titles between friends. Yes, they had no true lending plan set up yet. I believe that was said only a few days ago.
