I meant as opposed to driving to the goal hoping that an item won't spoil your victory. The better you are at snaking, the less luck is involved.
I'd rather beat an opponent through skill than luck. Fortunately, driving skills is still very important in Mario Kart 7 despite the lack of snaking.
