I don't think there's anything stopping 3rd parties from connecting to their servers once a game is inserted on a console. All this stuff will be done by the 3rd parties themselves, via connecting to their servers, restricting game content, etc. MS and Sony won't have anything to do with this.

No, Sony and MS can tell publishers what they can and cannot implement on their console. DRM for physical discs is against policy now. This isn't PC.
