Why is snaking bad?

Meh, the time gained from that method is not enough to be significant outside of time trails. One red shell would be enough to undo all that is gained in a single lap.  Not to mention that these long straight roads are very rare.

 

OT: I can see why people would find snaking bad; the game becomes something that it was not designed to be. The people who lost to me because they didn't know how to snake have my sympathies. Though I must say that few things can beat the adrenaline rush of facing another good "snaker" in Mario Kart DS.

I guess local F-Zero GX races would be one of those things.
