It would be worrying now if it's true as Sony are supposed to begin production soon. Bigger doesn't always mean cooler. If it has bad airflow a big design will be just as hot as a small design. Once the heatsinks have good surface area to spread the heat I wouldn't worry about it. Sony is usually pretty good at packing as much is as possible. All the PS3 were crambed into the cases and they all ran cool. |
I agree but they also have 8gb of GDDR5 memory to cool, wich is probably packed pretty close together. And 8gb must mean alot of memory chips. So considering airflow in a thight space you either have the heat of the APU being blown over that memory or the other way around, and you need quite alot of airflow to dissipate all that heat. Also both cpu and gpu are now in the exact same spot. I was really amazed that AMD could fit an 8 core cpu together with such a GPU.
