You are right, ARM-devices are known to be used in NDS. But also in GBA and 3ds and most of the smartphones/tablets.
Wii and WiiU also have a small arm-chip aswell as PS4. The nice thing with arm-chips is you can build "your own". You can build an soc with it which helps with dedicated chips like you want: Security, encoding, decoding and other things. PS4 and Xbone are said to feature arm-chips especially for security-reasons and also feature a low-power-mode for certain tasks so that you don't need the APU all the time.
