As for military personnel playing consoles: the defense given is that PS3/PS4 won’t be allowed on DoD networks. So the whole issue of military members switching to the PlayStation while on deployment is a non-issue. Scroll down in the comments on that thread, and you’ll find military personnel who agree – but state that they can still play offline. Also, how would that inspired a switch to the Xbox One, since it needs to be online?

How could having an always-on-always-listening-always-watching-and-probable-hacker's-primary-future-target-device in the army be a good thing ?

It's been said again and again that you can control Kinect so it isn't always listening or always watching.

@ the bolded: As opposed to what? Every other internet connected device ever made? Not to mention if they have the Xbox connected to an armed forces internet network (which they would if they are on a base), then I'd say good luck to any hacker that tries that.

you know you can also turn off your PC webcam from monitoring you unless of course your PC has become comprimised with Malware at which point the options you select don't mean jack while someone else is in control of whats happening. It's just giving hackers a camera which is guarenteed to be on 100% of the time.
