There's no reason why those resources couldn't be used in other ways: AI, etc. Basically the same exact application MS and now XB1 developers are touting as a great advantage of the platform. So yes, Sony could make the processing power of their servers available to developers for their games, and it's possible it's already being done without fanfare or maybe just in secret until there's something concrete to announce. The difference is whether or not that's being done or is in the plans for developers. Then it will boil down to the robustness of their network of servers although I don't see this being an issue if game streaming is going to be a major part of PSN. |
Sony does a lot of things without fanfare. They just get it done and let the system speak for itself. If theres anything software wise that they can add. Cross chat would've been fixed in the current gen but there wasnt enough ram left over to get it done. As you said the software is already there, it can just have parts reappropriated to get the job done.
