As far as unlimited downloads, I see your point as well. So I can install a game on 3 consoles I may own, sisters console and a few friends...and then using the website I can switch the rights to the console I may want to use to play my game... If I'm visiting my sister, I can flip the switch there. If I'm at friends house, I can deactivate the sister and select my friends console. Still kind of crumbesome and it falls appart if its time restricted. |
No doubt, it is cumbersome and not something that seems like it was designed into the console. And you're correct that being able to download your games onto other consoles and play them using your account no matter where you are would be useful at times. Then again I think being able to do something that retail copies have always been able to do (play on any console without being tied to the machine) isn't a good tradeoff for losing the ability to buy a standard retail copy.
The 10 friends sharing thing is nice, and I can definitely see why some would enjoy it, but that's really the only benefit I've seen in XBOne's approach versus PS4's and I just don't think that benefit is worth the hassle.
That said I work for a gaming website so I'll be getting both the consoles before too long.
