In order for that to happen the Xbox will have to be a major player five years from now. And to do that MS is going to have to change their tactics from trying to force you to go digital by making the retail experience shittier, attacking your ownership rights, etc., to enticing you to go digital by offering compelling reasons to do so, a la Valve.
As it stands there is nothing MS is promising that Sony isn't also, and Sony isn't going to punish you for playing games off of a disc or choosing to not go online for some period of time.
