Actually. Disregard my last comment saying no. Even though Metroid and Kirby sell the least of all Nintendo properties they probably push more systems than a Mario game would. As I've said before, Mario games don't really sell consoles. People buy them because they're on the system.

Metroid, Kirby, and Zelda titles rarely come along and while not selling a lot, these games are actually system sellers. These games would push fans of the series to atleast buy the console. Even if they don't sell much, they get those die hard fans to buy the games. That gets more consoles which gets Mario to make more random sales here and there.
