If content producers such as game, music, and movie publishers didn't hide behind the guns of Government to enforce their arbitrary monopolies, they would be forced to update their business models to a far less coercive and more voluntary approach which would end up better for everybody.
In a way, it happens anyway, because the guns of Government aren't very effective in the digital realm. And we're seeing beautiful innovation that is improving content viewing for everybody. Vevo, Humble Bundles, Free-to-Play, Netflix, Spotify, DLC, online passes, Hulu, Kickstarter, Early-Access, Premium Content.
As time progresses, we'll see more of these as businesses learn to adapt for a post-scarce marketplace. Those who don't adapt, die. That's the process of free markets and capitalism.
