Some editors simply don´t know what they´re talking about.
While Metroid games on GC and Wii were great, any of them surpassed the sales of Mario, Mario Kart, Wii Fit and/or Donkey Kong Country Returns. Nintendo right now needs games that have the potential to sell millions. Metroid would please older fans but won´t drive sales.
We can rest about that, because in the future they´ll surely launch a new Metroid and probably a new Star Fox. As for F-zero we can´t be sure, because the only F-zero game that sold well was the first one back in 1990.
