What did Sony do in the past that was so bad? I remember they did something bad with Sony Computers, but not video games in particular.

Sony burnt me in the past a bit by making 1st gen PS1, PS2, and PS3's that broke on my prematurely, that's why I switched to MS with the 360. However Sony only mildly burnt me, MS gave me 3rd degree with the 360 and now the One, so I'm switching back to Sony, and just waiting on a second gen console for reliability concerns.

Also used game buyers aren't bad for the industry. I usually buy most of my games for $20 because I'm rarely excited enough to buy a game day 1, why not wait and save money? However I do a lot of research into what games I buy, and I rarely re-sell them. So I still buy interesting games new, and even day 1, which is great for the industry. However at the same time, by buying used games and keeping them, I cut the supply of used games, which will force one other gamer to buy the game new if a used copy isn't available.

I don't mean that they've burnted me badly specifically, just I am not attached to them or 'love' them. My money as a consumer should be enough of a stamp of approval of their corporate policy; as an example, while it is not neccessarily the gaming division, look up rootkit lawsuit; they were in the forefront in the push for shitty DRM.

I realize that management is actually seperate and this scandal involve only Sony BMG but the point stands, they as a corporation is fully capable of being anti-consumer, so as long as the continue to be consumer friendly, their reward is my money and that should be more than enough. Never get attached to them and think that they are the 'good guy', that way lies the road to hell. :)

And I highlight this because you can be sure that current policy of the Xbox is a corporate one, gaming division didn't come up with this shit by themselves.

That's right! Rootkits on laptops that couldn't be removed, now I remember. However aren't Sony's studios separate? Sony Pictures for example has nothing to do with Sony Computer Entertainment. So the people behind the Playstation haven't done anything bad....yet.

I get what you mean about Sony, but aren't innocent, but atm they are the lesser of evils. My PS1-3 broke within the consoles lifetime, and in the case of PS1/PS2, right at the end (forcing me to replace, or go next gen). I don't think that's a coincidence, I think at some point Sony decides "ah, reliable enough" and moves on.

Still, ATM Nintendo/Sony have much better corporate policies then Microsoft. Not even just with the One, I've had a bad time with the 360 too (can't order replacement parts for discontinued products, forcing me to use MS to fix RRoD issues, even if I had an extended warrenty, replacing my console with a broken 1st gen console, etc.)
