Resistance had Vinyl guns and a shot gun that could run off soda as nuclear ammo? 

I'm talking more along the lines of the design of the shotgun (looks EXACTLY like the shotgun in Resistamce 2), and if by Vinyl gun, you're reffering to that disc launcher, the yes. In Resistance 2, there was a gun that was identical to that, that fired saw blade discs that ricocheted off enemies and objects. And don't try to tell those enemies don't look identical to the infected Grims in Resistance 3. I'm a huge Resistance fan, and noticed all of that right of the bat.

Looked like a normal shotgun to me, like one thats been in a lot of games.
