For me thats ok. I always prefer to play together with my friends and relatives. it's always way better and more entertaining than playing online.
Besides, Nintendo games are always made with this approach in mind. They dont want you to stay all the time alone like a couch potato, they want their games to be a reason for people to get together and enjoy themselves. I really love this approach.
