As it stands most of the informed buyers will have a Wii U (as the price has dropped so low we know Nintendo won't sell it cheaper for at least a year), and the uninformed (who don't know much about the consoles or which they want) will be swept up by the PS4 and XB1 launches. If Nintendo couldn't explain what a Wii U was before, how can they now there is more competition? They really need Smash and Kart to get the message across. |
If we've learned anything from the 7th generation it's that Nintendo and the HD twins have very different userbase so people waiting for Nintendo games won't just go for the PS4X1 instead since what they are waiting for are Nintendo games.
Also, the HD twins will be in the same situation as the Wii U for a while. The devoted fans will buy the console at launch despite having few titles to choose from and while I do believe Sony and MS have a greater number of core followers than Nintendo, it still remains that many will take the wait and see approach and won't buy until the HD twins build a sizeable library.
