We've got a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation here. Some people think the holiday titles won't sell well because Wii U sales are so low, while others (like me) think Wii U sales are so low because they don't have those titles out yet. As I said before, apart from the most devoted fans it takes more than 1 or 2 games to justify the purchase of a brand new console. The end of year lineup will provide those additional games for people on the fence and then Wii U will do just fine. |
I would say that is normally true, but I'm not sure these titles are the ones to push people to buy the console. I think the timing is off; they should have had these titles over the summer to build up the library, then Kart and Smash to have a strong holiday.
As it stands most of the informed buyers will have a Wii U (as the price has dropped so low we know Nintendo won't sell it cheaper for at least a year), and the uninformed (who don't know much about the consoles or which they want) will be swept up by the PS4 and XB1 launches. If Nintendo couldn't explain what a Wii U was before, how can they now there is more competition? They really need Smash and Kart to get the message across.
