I don't believe any of those three titles I mentioned would have any where near the sale potential of new 2D Donkey Kong. But saying that I don't see massive demand either in X, Bayonetta 2 & Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem compared to 2D Donkey Kong. I don't think every title has to be design to sell several million copies as minimum goal. I would imagine title like Starfox, Metroid, F Zero would over long period would get at least 1m+ sales and be profitable titles.

My guess is that Nintendo resources are spread thin right now, so there was no room for a Starfox, Metroid or F-Zero.

You are probably right, I guess they want to focus their first party resources on guaranteed strong seller right now over more risky titles. To be fair they have already invested in some risky titles like X, Bayonetta 2 & Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. Just a shame they can't do a few more and have a more complete range of genre available for the Wii U sooner rather than later.

Nintendo is a small compnay after all. There is only so much that they can do, but I relly wished that they would expand enough to have consistant software releases.
|
But how should they expand? As I am not sure buying other studios would be the answer for example. As Nintendo have got enough IP already, making certain ps3/xbox 360 could cause nerd rage e.g. Bayonetta 2, or the worst situation could happen. All the talents leaves the studio after it is taken over, like in the case of Rare.
I wonder if it was possible for Nintedo to just headhunt the best talent from other developer to create new development teams to work on their existing Nintendo IP's, would that be a better answer? Maybe even give the chance to promising indie developers to start developing Nintendo IP could be a possible way to go? I wonder if the former members of Rare would be interested to reform and join nintendo again?
