I'm pretty confident MS isn't going to shut down the servers anytime soon. If they shut them down in 15 years I don't really give a shit. I don't play PS1 era games and if I did there are things called emulators. |
Do not confused MS the company with Xbox Live. MS is one of the richest companies in the world churning out billions every year, so much so that Bill Gates is trying to give it all away. Sony is no where near that level of wealth.
What you should compare is games divisions and while I don't have figures, I dang well know that a decade ago, MS were bleeding money while Sony were rolling in it.
You should play PS1 era games, PS1 and N64 gen was easily the best gen in my view.
Anyway back on subject, I understand where you are coming from except maybe it is MS who should be saying it. However I disagree. There was no issue ith DRM based around physical media before except for piracy and even then, people still steal digital copies of games. This move is guard against piracy and it's at the expense of the legitimate customer.
Also, you put in the opening post that you wish you didn't have to 'change disc' yet lst gen, X-box owners were saying this is fine (see FFXIII). Both null points as it doesn't really matter, people are usually right next to their consoles anyway, stop being lazy. :P
Hmm, pie.
