What a difference! The PS3 was not the console gamers deserved (at least in the beginning), it was a console that Sony needed.

I hear MS is trying to mimic steam with their system design, so we might see $5 games on XBL and if they are linked to our profile, we keep them for life, even on future consoles. MS could (I doubt it though) pull a 180, just like Sony....or realistically pull a 360.

TRUST is the key word. Gabe said even if Steam were to ever go down in the future, they will make sure there is a way to download all games DRM free prior to that happening. MS never made any promise of future compatibility, and even if they did I wouldn't believe them unless it was a written contract.

And as for the quality and pricing of their services? Look at precedents with GFWL, that was on an open platform with competition and they still wouldn't come to the table, I am expect they would change their tune on a closed platform where they hold all the power?

Maybe. Personally I am in agreeance, but most console owners aren't well educated about games. Plus MS has the power of advertizing, and appealing to Americans who only buy domestic products since it's "good for the economy."

One will do well, but we all hope PS4 and Wii U will do a lot better. I don't trust MS, but I trust Sony and Nintendo.
