Poland is still PC land for the most part. Consoles became mainstream with this generation, mostly due to the fact that Poland joined EU in 2004, before then, we had much higher prices for games and consoles. For example PS2 at launch was 3000zl (aprox. 1000$ for today's exchange rate) now we have prices in line with all Europe.
Sony saw some success with PS2 and PSP due to the ease of pirating. That made Playstation synonymous with "console" for the mass consumer and casuals. Microsoft got a decent foothold in Poland with the 360 thanks to ease of pirating and lower price tag at launch, but we don't know how many consoles have the exaclty sold.
SCEP comunicated in May 2012 that they have sold over 500'000 PS3's by that time. So it's still save to assume on consoles front we're Sony land. But SCEP really tries hard to win over the consumer, we get every first-party game fully localised, very often with our popular actors and celebrities. We get every game in line with every other European country, and PSN has more features than XBL (which launched in 2010 iirc), PSN was ready from day 1.
Nintendo is like a obscure joke here, almost non-existent here. But they don't give a damn for our market. They don't even have official representation like Nintendo Poland.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!
