They play different too as the camera is a more fixed perspective rather than just from behind the character a-la the full blown 3D Mario games.
This may actually make it easier for a lot of "casual" gamers to control though giving it a much broader appeal than it would otherwise have.
Sales-wise? I see it outselling Sunshine comfortably. Lifetime sales for me really depend on whether the Wii U starts to take off once the dust has settled on the PS4/One.
