Similar trend as the game industry, where currently World of Warcraft, Call of Duty and Battlefield are stealing all the marketshare, pushing out mid-core games.
Some games will unrealistically try to become the new COD or WoW and spend enormous development budgets but fall flat on its belly when sales fail (KOTOR online, Crysis 3, MoH Warfighter, Dead Space 3, Homefront, Resident Evil 6, Dead Rising 3)
