Also, the Kinect functions seem so tacked on and superfluous. I know it started as a Kinect only project but still, it all just feels so artificial and gimmicky.

What? I didn't ever play GOW but wasn't the gameplay something like x,x,x,x,x,x,x,△△△△,x,x,x,x,△,△○,○,○,x,x,○,○,□,□,x,□,x,△?

 

Also: All actions are optional, but also implemented a button.

On normal difficulty GoW is like that, but on higher difficulties combos do matter and you must have the patience to learn them if you wanna be successful.

Yes, Kinect features are optional but when a game is designed with those in mind I don't think you can eat the cake and still have it. I don't think the experience will feel great with both control methods, it's gonna suffer on either one.
