I just played and beat VI for the first time and I can safely say no. The game is not that great. It was a step up for Final Fantasy and tried to deliver more on story but poorly executed. Much of that is due to the platform it was on. They simple could not achieve the direction and scope on the SNES. If they made a remake I would expect a massive overhaul on story, writing, events, progression...it would be better to make a new game.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
