Haha, yeah my theory sounds like the plot of a bad 80's movie. But corporations can be tricky. There is always struggles at the top and they are always looking for ways to get control over the shares.
It is very plausible that some douchy execs are trying to create a decline in stock prices in order to buy the shares low and get mayority control, then come up with a crazy announcement to bump up the stock prices and make millions of dollars. Nintendo I think is a big candidate for that since control of the company have been so tight. Someone may want to take over the hard way.
