MK7 was was worse.

Um, definitely not. 3 Blue shells a race is the highest I've seen in MK7, whereas in MKWii, 3 a race is common occurance. 8 racers v.s. 12 is likely the reason. Plus, the Blue Shell is slightly more balanced in MK7, as it can hit players other than just whoever's in first, and thanks to the second screen, you can see when it's coming and potentially avoid it all together.
