It's what I, and most people, I think, expected. I never once thought that Sony would force publishers to stop using online passes. Personally, I don't even mind online passes, as I think accessing a server and a network are aspects that go beyond simply purchasing a disc.
That being said, I think online passes are on their way out and micro-transactions are on their way in.
