This is the year that gamers will sit up and take notice of PSP with it's list of games over the next 12 months. You may very well find a large section of non PSP gamers deciding, the time in now to pick a cheap PSP and get some of the great releases coming out this year only for the PSP. By the way, I'm not dissing the DS, they've done very well with the DS, but it's about time the PSP got some recognition for its great diverse range of games and very promising title for the year as well. Anyway back on topic. Microsoft I think, will release a handheld, but they will be stupid to do it. They are not doing well enough in the home console market to warrant them a dabble in the handheld market. Sony who have done very well in the home console market are trying and are doing well, but they simply cannot compete with Nintendo in the market...they've been there for years and know exactly what they are doing. |
I am not too sure about that honestly. MS already has the software for the most part, so it wont cost them nearly as much as Nintendo or Sony who had to start from scratch relatively speaking. Also, by using windows in a portable they open the machine to a slew of software that can possibly work on the system. If I were them, I would include libraries for easy 360/portable/PC portability so that devs can make games that can work on all 3 thus lowering their risks & development costs dramatically. So as a 3rd party, I can make a 360 game, which I could already port relatively easily to PC, which I can also port to handheld easily (if they design it that way). You could potential sell to 3 markets with just 1 game. This is an advantage that no one else has and will help aleviate some 3rd party concerns. Of course its not that simple but they do have a big advantage over other companies who started from scratch.
