Ahh but things are not over yet. Because of MS DRM, what if they dropped games to 40 or even 30 because of their restrictions and Sony still have to charge 60. Of course this is just pie in the sky type of thinking about with MS system so locked down, it could happen to negate Sony no DRM.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think ms has the power to dictate the price of games. I think there is a standard set in the industry, lets say ms could, it would be first party only. There's no way in hell are 3rd parties going to charge cheaper

Thats the beauty of this DRM system.  Publishers and developers will be fine with lower margins on games if they are always getting money when a game is sold.  MStake a cut on what they take and publishers will be more friendly with a more friendly price on the X1.  Since Sony system is pretty much the same, that mean publishers will have to fight the 2nd hand game market just like they do now.

I doubt this will happen but you never know if the X1 start out of the game really show and MS has to do something to get things kicked started.  I know for a fact people are willing to put up with DRM if the price is right because we have seen so within these forums.

The thing is the used games market, though certainly taking profits away, isn't cutting them down by a large % (defiantly not the 50% needed to justify $60 down to $30). At the very most I could see them going from $60 to $50, but to be honest i doubt they will. Would make more sense for them to just pocket the extra profit.

The only reason I stated a price change is that selling more games most times it much better than selling a few at a higher cost.  Also having games cheaper means there will be no need for a use market as people can easily afford such prices, willing to risk more for unproven or not well reviewed games.  The industry cannot continue to go the same route as it has, and publishers and developers cannot betting millions on dollars on games and not get a decent return.

Just so people know, I am not defending MS policy or direction.  I am looking at the issue and wondering what MS is doing to curb the fear they have promotted.  Either MS will offer something better than We have Kinect and TV or they have set their console on a very shaky platform without any real benefit to the consumers which is pretty dumb.  I thought MS was smarter than this but there really must be some idiots making decisions.  We will see what game pricess will be for the X1 and X1 services because so far, there is nothing anyone could really say in favor of getting the X1 over the PS4.
