I´ve been saying that for years now, that´s the only way for them to survive in the long run.

They desperatly need their own eco system and let the 3rd parties that want to particapate

 Nintendo increased their manpower to more than 5000 people recently. They are combining their hardware development divisions... I think Nintendo realized their position several gens ago... Iwata has also stated that they do not buy studios, since studios are only worthy as much as the people who work there continues to be motivated and willing to work with them.
