I honestly don't think so, not when compared with 480p. What you lose with jaggies, you win in detail. Look at IGN's shots closely: they're jagged alright, but not washed. And a good HDTV would take care of the jaggies itself.
I'm not saying that having the option is bad. It's not, it's great. But as it is, it's mostly a matter of taste (and how good, and fast, your HDTV scaler is).
Reality has a Nintendo bias.
