My stance on Piracy is a little bit iffy, it can hurt the companies, but it can also help the companies too. The only reason I bought Gunstar Heroes on VC was because I had played it on a rom before then and enjoyed it.
Many games I would have simply skipped entirely, simply because it was either too expensive, or just didn't catch my interest until I was actually able to play it for free. It's not like I'm going "Oh, you like that game? Don't bother buying it, I'll give it to you for free!" So really, they aren't losing any money to me, and even stand a chance of gaining money in some cases.
Still, not everyone elsse is like me, so I can understand the reason why piracy shouldn't be allowed. It still happens though, so I try to avoid those aspects of it and only utilize it for its best purposes.
