Don't worry about the US!
I'm (in Australia) paying $120AU / month - for 40Gig cap, at max ADSL 1 speeds (up to 8Mbps down, 512?Kbps up).
If I was in a ADSL2 area - this would go up considerably (20Mbps down, 1.5Mpbs up?) - and the cost would drop to about $90/m.
Its still a heap :P
