PS4 is implementing the exact same thing besides the 24 hour online check.

I hadn't heard this. Any sources?

If they are doing installs on their console, which they are, they have to implement DRM. there is no other way it can work.

Except for the 24 hour check in, they are using this as DRM and bypassing most of the cloud stuff Ms is going to offer. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/03/sony-patents-tech-to-tie-discs-to-user-ids/

So essentially they are going to give gamers the "feeling" like they own the game by using it as DRM, even if the game lives on the hard drive, cloud...etc. Kind of smart trickery to keep old school gamers that like tangible things happy.

I'm curioud how this works when it comes to cloud streaming to PSVita. Like do I have to have my disk in PS4 at all times and PS4 on to play the game on PSVita? If so, thats stupid...

Got it. I was just curious because I keep hearing some say Sony is doing the same, yet I recall things being a little different.

Sites actually reported sony denying the patent is for the Ps4. Also, gamestop and yoshida confirmed used games and yoshida confirmed no internet connection required. Dont listen to the people saying otherwise. There is no reason to think Sony will have DRM at this moment in time. In fact, the there is every reason to believe they wont implement it
