A couple of things to note here:
- Patents are just patents and most of them sit there without any use. Some do get used, though, but saying someone is going to use their patent because they have it is just wrong. Everything gets patented these days so no big deal here.
- Sony has stated they won't be requiring any online check-ins on their part.
- Sony's patent won't require an internet connection, which makes it much less harsh even if it does get used.
Right now, it seems Sony is playing their cards in a very customer-friendly fashion here and there's not much reason to attack Sony at the moment. If they do end up using some anti-customer policies, go ahead and talk about it because if they do, they'll deserve all the negative feedback they get and probably even more, but that seems unlikely based on what we know. So there you go: Sony hasn't done anything wrong yet and doesn't seem like they're going to do either so watch your words until then, please.
