Makes sense. Nintendo killing the cheaper SKU before considerably more expensive consoles from competitors hit shop shelves would be a terrible idea, I didn't think it was likely.
I've said this for a while but I can see a $50 price cut, leaving the Wii U at $249.99/299.99, the PS4 at $499.99 and the One at $499.99. That's going to leave the Wii U Basic SKU being half the price of the PS4 and One. Being cheaper to buy did the Wii a lot of favours last gen and I can see the same thing happening this gen too.
